Gwen McCuistion

A little about myself:

I have enjoyed creating art and working with children for as long a I can remember. I grew up in Topeka, Kansas. My mom was a home daycare provider; I was raised with 3 siblings and at least 6 other young children in her care. I have always enjoyed teaching and caring for younger children. My husband Brian and I have four daughters.

We recently moved to Georgia. While in Kansas my teaching experience included; First grade for 7 years, Elementary Art for 6 years and High School Art for 12 years. Currently I teach Elementary Art in Chattanooga.

I have 2 degrees from Wichita State University, one in Elementary Education and the other in Art Education. I have studied art at Wichita State University, City Arts, Wichita Center for the Arts, and the The Art Guild. I enjoy all mediums of art. I have most of my experience in acrylic painting, ceramics and 3-D art.

My art has encompassed a large variety and scale of work. I taught hundreds of acrylic painting classes while working for Pinot's Palette in Wichita from 2016-2018. I made all types of ceramics, glass tile, murals and sculpture projects while teaching Ceramics at Wichita South H.S. from 2008-2020. I have been commissioned to paint large murals, landscape paintings, portraits, and more.

I hope to continue to create art and teach for as long as I can. Art and working with others is a big part of who I am and what makes me happy.
